Waterford bits fold over a horse’s mouth and work more off head pressure from the gag action. The Waterford bit looks like a line of ball-and-chain link mouth and a variety of cheek styles . 

It is a flexible bit that moulds round the horse’s mouth, creating an even pressure. It is moveable in all directions and horses find it difficult to lean or take hold of it, giving the rider good levels of control. Waterford rather is broken when the horse goes to set its jaw.

This hand made custom gag bit features bluing steel mouth, shaped rings to keep bit off horses face, shaped gag to give the rider a more balanced ride. 

The bluing on mouth is made from sweet iron. Sweet Iron is designed to  oxidize when it comes into contact with moisture; this oxidation process encourages salivation which improves acceptance of the bit. This process changes the bluing  of the horse bit .
