How to maintain your leather reins
The Art of Caring for Fine Leather
At Edgewood, we believe exceptional leather requires only the purest care. Both Edgewood and our American tannery have long maintained that products containing petroleum distillates or harsh solvents are unnecessary for preserving the integrity of premium vegetable-tanned leather. Over time, such ingredients may compromise the strength of the finely crafted nylon stitching used throughout our bridles and reins.
For this reason, we recommend avoiding all solvent-based or petroleum-derived conditioning products. Layer neatsfoot until your desired color is achieved .
Glycerin soap
To maintain the strength and suppleness of the leather, clean your reins after each use.
Apply the soap with a damp sponge.
Leather conditioner
Hydrate your reins with the conditioner 1 to 2 times a month. For this, use a clean cloth or sponge.
Leather oil
Soften your leathers with leather oil 1 to 2 times a year. Apply the product with a brush.
